Jalalpur temple

It can be said on the basis of hearsay that there was a religious Businessman Named Mannulal in this village, who built 51 Shiva temples in the village. The carving of the temple was amazing and adorable. Shivalingas of the temples were made of rare stones. The paints and carving of these temples, made centuries ago are still alive.

There was a time when people used to come from far away to see these temples. But onlookers are rare now.

Mnnulal shop is still located near the bank of Betwa River. There is a storehouse at top of the stairs . It is said that Mnnulal had pushed all the doors of the store house through the wall. It is a big and closed box of 40 feet long and 20 feet wide still situated near the bank of Betwa River. The villagers says that Treasury and the goods of Mannulal Businessman are placed inside it . But none body is sure.

The Shivlanga of these temples are Made of white stones under the dense forest. If we throw torch light on these Shivlings, It returns the shines of light for a while. It is supposed that there are diamonds inside the Shivlingas. So many Shivalingas are cut off by the greedy people. The Money digger often continues to dig here. Hundreds of rugged pit can be seen. These 51 temples only Pataleswar is worshiped in the temple. Because the maintenance of this temple is done by the the police station. The carving and built manner of  this temple is also amazing.

Kalpa Taru

Kalpavriksha, Parijaat tree or kalpataru (Adansonia digitata)  tree is situated on the bank of Yamuna River. It is a tree whose average life is more than 2500 years. It is a wish-fulfilling or Boon-Giving divine tree in Hindu mythology.

It was mentioned in Sanskrit literature (Rig Veda) from the earliest sources onwards. Sage Durvasa meditated under the Kalpavriksha. Shiva's daughter Ashok Sundari was created from Kalpavriksha tree by Parvati, to alleviate her loneliness.
As per mythology, if you wish anything from this tree, it fulfills the wish. Considered as sacred among Hindus, the tree is believed to have been one of the nine jewels, which were churned out of the sea (Samudra Manthan) by the demons and gods. The king of the gods, Indra, had taken this tree to his paradise.

Nearly every part of the tree has some medicinal value. Both the fruit and leaves are high in vitamin. It is single and rare in Uttar pradesh district and preserved by adminitration.

Sati Shrines

SatÄ« the feminine of satya which means "true" was a religious funeral practice among some Indian communities in which a recently widowed woman would have immolated herself on her husband’s funeral pyre. The term is derived from the original name of the goddess Sati, also known as Dakshayani, who self-immolated because she was unable to bear her father Daksha's humiliation of her (living) husband Shiva. The practice had been banned several times, with the current ban dating to 1829 by the British.

Hamirpur District

Hamirpur, with an area of around 4,000 sq km and population of 10.5 lakhs (Census 2001), is among India's least urbanised and industrialised districts.
Till recently the district included a southern hilly and forested portion that has been made into a separate district called Mahoba.

Hamirpur town, which  has a population of less than 35,000, stands on a tongue of land near the confluence of the Betwa and Yamuna rivers.  It is well connected by road to Kanpur, 60 km away, and by rail to Kanpur and Banda.

According to tradition, the town was founded in the 11th century by one Hamir Deo, a Rajput from Alwar.

Most of Hamirpur district is a treeless alluvial plain through which the Yamuna, Betwa, Dhasan, Ken rivers and numerous tributaries flow in tortuous routes. The rivers cause extensive soil erosion and formation of ravines.

Among the few non-agricultural products of note from the district is soapstone, used to make vessels, dishes and object d art, mined at a village called Gorahri.

Hamirpur is one of the districts of UP where Krishi Gyan Kendras to train farmers in different aspects of crop production and livestock management have been set up by the Kanpur-based Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture (founded 1893), a premier institution of agricultural research and education.

Rath (pop. around 56,000) is the largest town in the district.
